Di antara fitur-fitur baru termasuk dalam kernel Linux 2.6.39 kita bisa menyebut driver baru untuk high-end graphics card AMD, ipsets untuk menyederhanakan pemeliharaan firewall dan implementasi, sistem file EXT4 ditingkatkan, driver baru untuk dukungan hardware yang lebih baik, dan banyak perbaikan bug.
